Authors for DRM FreeDRM (Digital Rights Management) is a catch all word that refers to software and/or hardware technology that keeps you from sharing the digital media you have bought. DRM is used to prevent the piracy of ebooks, music and video files but has not been found to be effective, although many different forms have been tried over the years.

What DRM has been effective at, is sparking much anger by consumers who have found that DRM makes it difficult to share digital files they have legally bought between devices and that DRM cause conflicts in playing or reading the files.

Now authors are fighting against DRM as they feel that DRM not only doesn’t prevent their books from being pirated but also causes customers to shy away from their ebooks because of the troubles DRM creates.

These authors have gathered to form ReadersBillofRights.info. You can find more information about their movement at their site.
